Thanks to you, 2024 has been a great year for HVCMC. We enjoyed a stellar trio of concerts, a primary goal. Our creative directors, Jaime Laredo and Sharon Robinson, gave us wonderful music, enlarging their quartet Espressivo! to become a quintet, performing well-known favorites as well as introducing us to the less familiar. With the return of the Isidore String Quartet and debut of the Balourdet Quartet, HVCMC once again championed young musicians, a tradition of which we are very proud. We are thrilled to have introduced these two ensembles to the Hudson Valley and look forward to inviting them back to play for us again as their careers flourish.

Thanks to our electronic outreach and partnerships with the Fisher Center and Maverick Concerts, we were able to grow our membership. Our Benefit at the Klose Family Barn in Red Hook brought many of you together to hear students from the Bard Conservatory perform sparkling chamber music on a fall afternoon.
HVCMC has continued to build its community initiative and will again host a Valentine’s Day concert for very young music lovers at Day One Early Learning Community in Poughkeepsie, as well as a March concert for the Rhinebeck at Home and Arbor Ridge community at Brookmeade performed by musicians from TŌN: The Orchestra Now at Bard.
Now we look to the future: 2025 marks HVCMC’s 75th anniversary and Jaime and Sharon’s 25th as our artistic directors. The year will be given to celebrating these milestones in addition to bringing you a superb June concert series. Highlights will include a Spring Gala, themed to connect us to our founding in 1950, and the Hudson Valley premiere by Espressivo! of a new work by Nokuthula Ngwenyama, co-commissioned by HVCMC. By popular demand, our 2025 June Concerts will take place on Sunday afternoons, allowing listeners to enjoy the sense of sitting in a garden while savoring glorious music in Olin Hall.
None of this would be possible without your enthusiasm and support. As we plan our 75th season, our goal is to build a strong foundation for the years to come. We are excited to announce the creation of the Helen Hull Founders Fund, named for one of our founders who was a tireless supporter of musicians and was instrumental in bringing outstanding classical music to the Hudson Valley. Donors to this fund will receive special recognition for their contribution to sustaining HVCMC into the future.
In closing, HVCMC thanks you for your continued generosity and I wish you the warmest of holidays, surrounded by good cheer and great music.
