Jinjoo has been an Artist-in-Residence at the Kentucky Center for Performing Arts, regularly appears in recital (Cleveland, Montréal, Seoul, Munich and New York) and has given three Canadian recital tours. In 2011-12 she toured Argentina, appearing with La Orquesta Sinfónica Nacional and in a series of recitals organized by Mozarteum Argentino. Her strong Cleveland ties make her a favorite with local organizations including the Ashland and Lakeside Symphonies, CIM Women’s Committee, Cleveland Women’s Orchestra, Cleveland Philharmonic, Cleveland Clinic, Akron’s Tuesday Musical Association, CityMusic Cleveland, Arts Renaissance Tremont, among others.
An avid chamber musician, she has regularly been coached by Peter Salaff and the Cavani String Quartet, and participated in masterclasses with Midori, Donald Weilerstein, Arnold Steinhardt, Gilbert Kalish and the Pacifica and Takács String Quartets.
A native of Seoul, South Korea, Jinjoo is a graduate of Yewon Art School and the Korean National University of Arts (Pre-College). She came to the U.S. in 2002 to study with Paul Kantor and participate in the CIM Young Artist Program. Mr. Kantor has been her mentor and teacher since 2002. Jinjoo attended the Curtis Institute of Music, but returned to CIM earning Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in violin performance (AC 2010/BM 2011/MM 2013). Fall 2012 she began studying with celebrated artist/teacher, Jaime Laredo. Summer 2013 Jinjoo and HyunSoo were invited to the chamber music residency program at the Banff Festival. She also attended the prestigious Kronberg Academy Masterclasses in Frankfurt, Germany, summer 2013, studying with renowned violinist Zakhar Bron. This summer Jinjoo attended The Perlman Music Program and Music@Menlo.
HyunSoo Kim is a native of South Korea and began to play piano at the age of eight. He received a Bachelor of Music in piano performance from the University of Delaware, where he was a recipient of the John D. Martini Award. He has performed as soloist with the University of Delaware Symphony Orchestra, the Newark Symphony Orchestra and numerous community orchestras in the Delaware region. He was recognized as a Delaware Representative in the Young Artist Category by the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) in 2008. HyunSoo Kim completed his Master’s degree in Collaborative Piano at the Cleveland Institute of Music in 2011, where he received the Rosa Lobe Collaborative Piano award. HyunSoo recently completed his Artist Diploma with Anita Pontremoli at the Cleveland Institute of Music. He has been a staff pianist at Kent State University since 2011. Summer 2013 he served as a collaborative pianist at Interlochen Arts Academy. Fall 2013 Mr. Kim joined the CIM collaborative piano staff. He spent this summer in Siena, Italy, working with students and performing.
